Misconceptions About Spirituality
As has been explained in Developing Your Connection, it is the desire of Spirit to work with you while you live your earthly life. It is, and always was intended to be this way.
It is the job of your Guides to help you without interfering in the way that you live your life. (See Free will) It would not therefore make sense that it should be too complicated. However, it would seem that human nature does not find it easy to trust what is simple and so, over many years, people have looked for something deeper. It has been difficult for them to find what they are looking for and so they have worked with what they either think they have found, or what they have misunderstood.
Ceremony
For some people, ceremony and worship is very important. Spirit do not require it, merely to be treated with respect.
Communication with Spirit does not require special settings, apparatus, clothing or even people - for it is possible for everyone to communicate with Spirit given the will, patience and a true desire to do so.
Unfortunately many methods employed to initiate contact with Spirit do, in reality, make communication more difficult and in some cases impossible.
These methods have not been listed individually here for there are so many of them and more continue to be developed. We will simply emphasise the simplicity of what is required and draw your attention to the articles on this web site that are designed to help you to achieve the best connection that is possible for you.
Music
If you feel more comfortable listening to relaxing music and/or lighting a candle to help you to achieve the best mind set while you meditate and communicate with spirit, that is fine but more than that is not necessary, and strictly speaking, even that is not necessary. Somewhere quiet and undisturbed is all you truly need.
The ideal is that each and every person having an earthly life will knowingly and consciously live that life with Spirit walking alongside supporting and guiding in a gentle, non-interfering way that does not require the input of any other individual to achieve.
At this time, many things prevent that ideal happening and will take time to correct. The simplest way to bring it closer is for people to embrace a spiritual life that is part of every day life 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is as automatic as breathing. You would not take very many breaths if you had to do something special or organise a place to do it or wait for someone to do it for you.
It has taken many years for these extraneous ideas and ways to grow and Spirit are aware that change will only come as people find the confidence to accept that what they seek is much closer than they have previously understood.
Ghosts and Spirits
A question that is frequently asked is whether ghosts and spirits are the same thing. It is perhaps best explained by saying that it is not a term that spirit would use for there is no need for it. People, however, often develop terms in their quest to understand things that are new to them. This is how the term "ghost" came to be. Ghosts are not different entities to Spirits but the term is usually used to refer to earthbound Spirits and is very often intended to create a particular atmosphere or even fear.
We cannot stress strongly enough that fear is only created by people who try some of the more extreme ways to communicate with spirit.
